What kind of software skills to do you need to make a gambling website?

I am looking to hire a freelance web developer/designer. I want to create a gambling website that can accept money from credit cards. I also want to install a chat feature between players playing poker. What kind of skills should I look for in a developer?

    Getting approval from a bank for an online merchant account is very difficult unless you have an absolute fortune to invest. If it is a gambling website, that makes it even more difficult – and it rules out the ‘easy options’ like PayPal Pro because they don’t accept gambling websites.

    Before investing in a web developer, see if you can get approval for a credit card merchant account that will allow gambling. Otherwise, you stand to waste thousands for your website then find no-one will give you approval to take cards.

    You do realize it is illegal to operate a gambling website in the U.S. or Canada and a lot of other countries. You would need to set up a company in some offshore country to do it legally and you would also need to acquire a gaming license which they just don’t give to anybody.
