Documentary On Compulsive Gambling

On May 26, 1978 Resorts Hotel and Casino opened its doors in Atlantic City New Jersey. This was the first expansion of commercial Gaming outside of Nevada. It was also the day the GAMING CANDLE was lit on both ends and its near to being burned out in every way.

My name is Bill Kearney, I am a anti-gaming activist and former compulsive casino gambling degenerate who’s been educating the citizens of my state and others throughout our country and other countries on the pitfalls of what the gaming industry and an alarming number of our government officials call a form of entertainment, no different then going to the ballpark or theater. I am also the author of a novel titled COMPED.

The novel is based on the HighRoller life I once lived and the price I paid when living it up and doubling down in the Atlantic City casinos in the early 80s.

It’s time to address how our ‘BILLION DOLLAR CASINO OPERATORS’ have been given carte-blanche to ‘FLEECE’ and ‘BREED’ compulsive casino gamblers who will eventually become criminals. Over the years I’ve been addressing and proving that there are major flaws in all gaming laws throughout our country, and it’s not where casinos will be built and who owns them. They could be owned by the Mafia, Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis, Al-Kida or even the Catholic Church, whats the difference, its still the same SCAM that is FLEECING and BREEDING Americans into compulsive casino gamblers. The flaws are there are no safeguards or provisions in place that will protect today’s casino gamblers and future casino gamblers from becoming what I once was. In other words all casinos are operating like amusement parks with no safety belts or cages on the rides. But to make it look like gaming operators and state officials are addressing this most certain outcome they’re going to have things like a 1-800 GAMBLER get help number, and a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week hotline that provides crisis counseling. There’s also self-exclusion for those who got so ‘HIGH’ on casino gambling that they destroyed themselves and in most cases their innocent families. Do you know of any other entertainment venue or industry in our country that has such an option? All of these good intentions and provisions address the obsessive gambling problem AFTER one becomes a casino gambling junkie. If we do nothing to stop the ‘BREEDING’ then be prepared to face the same ill-effect that we have been addressing since the sixties when the youth of America started entertaining themselves with drugs, it was called getting ‘HIGH.’

Here are a few of the tools that our government has given our casino operators to seduce their prey. 24/7 gambling, Free booze, Check cashing, Smoking areas inside, interest free Credit and those so-called freebies known as COMPS that make many justify their losses. Can you think of any other industry in our country that operates in the same fashion?

To learn more about the real ill effects of casino gambling go on line and look up Bill Kearney on casino gambling or email me at billkearneycomped@hotmail.com. You can order ‘COMPED’ from that email for $25.00. If you go on line to Bookfinder.com or amazon.com you will see ‘COMPED being sold for over 100.00.

This video = a joke. I been to AC
100x since I was 21 (28 now). I go about every other month to play 2-4 limit hold ‘em. I take $100 and usually either win or lose $40, sometimes I win $100 or lose $100.

Just because some idiot has a million dollars at his disposal and has no self control does not mean I should be forced to get a license to gamble. Thats just retarded.

  3. cwood4ever Says:

    All 50 states …
All 50 states should legalize gambling and drugs. Its up to a person who use personal responsibility to control themselves. If they become degenerates that is their problem not mine. But I don’t think the government should be able to say you cant do what you want with your money and your body. If someone wants to destroy their life gambling and using drugs its not my problem its theirs. Freedom for all!!!

I have to say this Documentary, as short as it is, is extremely well done!

As a an avid movie lover as well as an ex-compulsive gambler this documentary is both visually and emotionally sound.
It’s honest and makes complete sense.

My only concern is that it should be longer.

  16. Sternumator Says:

    This video is …
This video is stupid. You can’t control gambling people have always gambled and there is nothing you can do to stop them. Gambling is great I think, if you gamble with freinds you won’t lose any money in the long run and you have a lot of fun. So if people want to pay money for a nice enviroment and play in a casino then they should be allowed. Nobody is forced into casinos, they are there providing a service to people. People should be allowed to spend their money how they choose.

  17. palisandr123 Says:

    fruit machines , …
fruit machines , black jack and other stuff like that is a suck out but poker is more about skill and thats why it’s a gaming not gambling in my opinion…………but even with a poker you have to have a strict mind when it comes to how much money you want to spent for it otherwise it can be as devastating as anything else in casino

  18. sharkl11 Says:

    poker online is …
poker online is great if done right. too bad 99.9 percent do it wrong. I mean if you have 8-12 hours to spare on a sunday…u can take down a $22 buy-in tournament and turn it into 1st place $35k. I mean??? That is worthy of taking a small risk for a huge reward.

  19. sharkl11 Says:

    my buddy is a …
my buddy is a gambleholic. Just drives me crazy that he shoots 3-500 average a hand and he complains that his $50 steak meal was too expensive??? There has to be some kind of term for that.

  20. 420sensi Says:

    why are drugs …
why are drugs ilegal then dude?
    ur comment has no sense..
THEY DO REGULATE OUR MONEY and how we spend it (Govt) , so fck this, if they are regulating me on my dealer, regulate this sh1t which is 10,000 worst

  21. 420sensi Says:

    Trust me, casinos …
Trust me, casinos are a fcked up shit…
    I lost everything….
    well im only 23…
    I dont gamble no more….
    “dont gamble ur life”
    its GAMLBING not gaming….
we all think its games, make us think that, Casinos are worst than drugs…
    worst vicious vice

  22. cwood4ever Says:

    Amen
    Amen

  23. papermarioa Says:

I go to my Local …
I go to my Local Casino for a night out.. and if I spend £100 ($180) on a night out then that is a cheap night out for me. Sometimes I walk out even or with a FEW pounds profit. I know it is just a loan and the next weekend I walk into the casino they will get it back.
IF YOU COULD WIN MONEY GAMBLING NO ONE WOULD WORK..THERE WOULD BE NO BUS DRIVERS,DOCTORS,GARBAGE COLLECTORS..PEOPLE WOULD JUST GAMBLE TO GET CASH..
YOU DONT WIN MONEY YOU EARN IT WORKING!!!!!

  24. SWU6002 Says:

    What is …
What is entertaining about a guaranteed way of losing money ?

If these casino games are so entertaining, why don’t they charge an entry free, and allow people to play the games for fun, with no money to win or lose. The reason they don’t is because the games are boring.

I think you are confused Compulsive gamblers are vulerable people, often having a rough time in their life, and searching for a way out. CASINO OPERATORS are the greedy selfish bastards, making the public believe they can win

  25. marcolinorsm Says:

    people defending …
people defending casinos, poker online and all that stuff have interests in it…they’re spammers or working for them. Gambling without compulsive gamblers wouldn’t exist so when they say that compulsive gamblers are just a useless part of the business, they’re liers or stupids.. ..
