MIT’s students (the most feared card counters in the world) breaks las vegas using card counting.

In the mid-1990s, a team of American science students took on the might of the Las Vegas casinos, and came home with millions of dollars. Hardworking engineering students during the week, they became high-rolling gamblers by the weekend and proved that, in one game at least, the house doesn’t always win.

The game was blackjack, and the students were from the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Their audacious winnings marked the climax of an arms race between casino and player that began 40 years earlier with maths professor Edward Thorp. He realised that the one feature of blackjack that made it different from other Casino Games also made it possible to beat…

    You’re forgetting …
You’re forgetting that most places don’t use CSM’s because of nostalgia. It’s better for casinos to encourage card counting so the majority of those who do will end up losing. With very few counters winning and several losing, the house is better off. Even in Australia, I heard that VIP members can enjoy blackjack dealt out of a shoe instead of a CSM, but if they’re suspected, they’ll be removed from the list(a countermeasure against the anti-barring rule).

It’s simple really. The true count is the running count divided by the number of decks in play. For example, if the running count is +15 and there are 5 decks left in the shoe, 15 divided by 5 gives you a true count of +3. That means in a typical blackjack game with .5% disadvantage, you would have a 1% advantage.

The casinos did NOT begin to lose millions after Thorp’s discovery. They just overreacted and also threw in some unfavorable rules. At one time there was also a 9 deck game that paid in favor for the player but it was soon removed.

    The game is not …
The game is not ruined and it never will! If the casinos made blackjack an unbeatable game, people will find out and the casinos will lose money, just like you saw on this documentary. Although card counting is easy to learn, it’s hard to do without mistakes. Most people who learn card counting can’t beat the casino because of a lack of bankroll, faith, knowledge, and practice! To beat the casino you have to work on it for months if not years to have the skill you need!
